Fausto Bormolini the fastest at the training
Fausto Bormolini with the F3000 set the best outcome of official training in Ilirska Bistrica. He was followed by the Czech Otakar Kramsky in second, and Dušan Neveril in third place. Vladimir Stankovič was not happy with his seventh place, but Patrik Zajelšnik was enthusiastic with his ninth. In the competition Slovenian National Championship, Aleš Prek was the fastest before Milan Bubnič.
The official trainings in Ilirska Bistrica are over, the best time in the second run was reached by the Italian Fausto Bormolini in his racing car F3000. The surprise was the Czech Otakar Krmasky with the second place, like his fellow countryman Dušan Neveril, who came in third. In the first run, the best result was achieved by another Czech, Miloš Beneš, who is also one of the favourites to win, but in the second run he did not improve his achievement as much as the others who beat him. He finished in sixth place, just half a second before the Slovene Vladimir Stankovič. The latter was not happy with the position of his racing car Osella FA30 and he promises a much faster drive for Sunday. Much happier was the other Slovene in the fastest ten, Patrik Zajelšnik, who came in ninth with the prototype Norma M20F. Aleš Prek in his Porsche 997 GT3 was 24th and the fastest in the competition Slovenian national championship, the local Milan Bubnič with his Lancia Delta HF Integrale was less than a second behind him and came in 28th. In the battle for the title of European champion in the category 1, the Serb Dušan Borković just confirmed his strength in the second run, and after what we have seen today, the fierce battle for the second place will be between the Czech Lukaš Vojaček and the Austrian Christian Schweiger.
Both the training rides in the beautiful and warm weather in front of a large number of spectators occurred smoothly and without problems. The only brief interruptions were necessary for sweeping the course, whereas fire-fighters had to dry some spilled oil. There were some problems due to defects, but there were no collisions. On Sunday, the first race starts at 10 am, the second at 1 pm. The award of the trophies and prizes is scheduled for 5 pm.
